What does an in person session look like?Good question! Sessions can be framed in one of a couple ways...you can come ready to want to work on a particular issue in your life that you'd like to see change, OR you can do a session "in the clear," meaning with nothing in particular in mind to target. Either way, I use a goal system to frame the session that you choose using a process called muscle monitoring (see the FAQ below for more on that). Ultimately you are the captain of the session and your body knows EXACTLY what will support you in getting where you would like to go, even if you are not consciously aware of specifics. That is the beauty of this work!

What does a distance session look like?Distance options are very flexible. I can do work with you or a loved one over Zoom, phone, or after a brief phone call and hanging up. Sometimes I work on children at bedtime when their system is winding down, and just text the parent that I am starting. This work is very adaptable to need. Without going into quantum geek land completely, the nutshell version of this is to remember first and foremost that energy is non-local. Therefore, with your permission as the parent (if working with a child) or as the recipient, I step into your energy field with my intention/request. Everyone's individual energy signature is as unique as a snowflake. No one in this world has your unique tone, or frequency. The best analogy here is Bluetooth - it's a frequency pairing between your unique phone and your car. I always ask permission to step into someone's energy, and doing a distance balance is no different. I step into and pair with your energy field and we are now in a shared circuit. Muscle response testing, or monitoring, is done by me, linked to your energy field. I take notes and send them to you to read and integrate upon finishing, and am available to answer questions or follow up as needed. Most people feel the effects of this type of balance just as much as doing an in person session. So, if you feel called towards trying this out, you have everything to gain.

How can Specialized Kinesiology potentially help and support me?Most clients come to this work because they are ready for something to change in their life and they need support in getting there. It could be anything from a nagging physical issue to wanting to get unstuck from something that's been burdening for a long time. Or it could be that things just need to be balanced from within. After all, we do live our lives from the inside out, and that is precisely what makes specialized kinesiology unique; it utilizes the subconscious driver to locate and de-stress what has been riddled by stress. Roughly 95% of our day as humans are lived from the subconscious, so it's pretty important to look there for where stress is held. That said, I utilize a biofeedback system called muscle monitoring to locate the stress held in your body.

What is acupressure touch in SK?Acupressure touch has roots in both Chinese and Indian medicine philosophies. That is part of the beauty of Energy Kinesiology (EK) as it has woven the finest from the Chinese and Indian medicine philosophy and Western neuroscience research. That said, acupressure touch utilizes light touch to the acupressure points associated with the coresponding meridian. If touch is an issue at all, I can also hover just above the point with the same effectiveness since the energy eminating from the point is much like a little funnel that extends outward above the skin.

Talk about neuroplasticity a little bit...Neuroplasticity of the brain is something that is accessible to everyone, regardless of genetics, which is different than what we once thought. One of the powerful ways one can harness that is through de-stressing the pathways through Specialized Kinesiology in order to see your life with greater clarity and make new choices. The more that new choice is made, the neurons that were firing in the old pattern will recede, creating a stronger neural pathway to the new the more that happens. "Neurons that fire together, wire together" - Dr. Dan Siegel, Dr. Joe Dispenza, Dr. Daniel Amen (and too many more to quote here). I would recommend anything that the aforementioned have written to understand more about brain science.

What is muscle testing all about?Muscle testing a.k.a. monitoring, is a non-invasive way of communicating with the body using a muscle - usually the forearm muscle (Brachioradialis) while you are laying comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed, face up throughout the session. It's such a relaxing modality that it is even okay to fall asleep, and that happens a lot! That said, your muscle holds a flow of energy and when that flow is stressed, the muscle will present as such - that could be an overfaciltation (locking) or an underfacilitation (unlocking). I like to think of an overfacilitated muscle as a t-rex arm - it's so locked it can't be unlocked without the support to do so. Think spaghetti when it comes to underfacilitation, meaning that it won't lock at all!

How many sessions do I need?I generally recommend 4 sessions to start the work and ultimately this depends on what you need and the things that you would like to see change in your life. Other clients have different needs and require de-stressing what has been there for quite some time, which can take up to 8-10 sessions paced out over every week to 10 days. From there, it's all about maintenance which can be a session once every six months.

What age is appropriate for Specialized Kinesiology?Specialized Kinesiology is for any age, truly. I have worked with souls from in utero to 86 years old. There is something in this modality for all ages and stages of life. I will say that working with children, the work tends to go faster because their neural pathways are not as well engrained as an adult.
